I wonder if any of Thaivisa members have come across this facility which, in my opinion, is constructed by some sort of insane business process guru. The following description is from memory - i.e. not perfect.

I was making an online air flight booking with a local airline when I got to the payment page & entered a Bangkok Bank (BBL) debit card number, which took me to a Bangkok Bank Verified by Visa page asking for a reference/password number, which I didn't have. Thinking that it is always good to have extra protection for debit/credit cards online, I decided to register for the extra protection.

This required phoning BBL & entering the card number & PIN (should have stopped here before entering the PIN) which (as usual in my case) required help to complete this process. I had now selected an 8-digit number. However, I was now instructed to go to the BBL iPay web site to complete the process.

After searching through BBL sites I found the relevant one and completed this process by entering the card number, name, & the above 8-digit number. I had to choose another (6-digit this time) number & a phrase.

So, back to the air flight booking (after at least 30 minutes) to add the final 6-digit number, enter.........& the whole bloody thing had timed out.

With hindsight, I wasted my time &, by entering my PIN number over the phone, hardly made things any safer.

I wonder if this is a BBL-only approach or if any other local bank has a similar but less-convoluted process? :whistling:

I went through the exact same procees when I wanted to purchase a juicer online from Central World for delivery to Phit'lok, including the time-out. After I got the timeout, I had to redo the whole purchase process, but I already had the passwords, etc., from BBL, so it went through. Time to make such a purchase in the U.S.: five minutes. Time to make the purchase in LOS: one and a half hours. Yes, ridiculously cumbersome.

I still like it here better. At least I don't have some pervert from TSA trying to squeeze my balls in the name of national security every time I get on an airplane.
