My latest cholesterol check-up yesterday revealed that, while my HDL ("bad") cholesterol level was now within acceptable limits, my LDL ("good") cholesterol level had fallen below the acceptable 40 mg/DL minimum (to 31 mg/DL to be precise). When I asked the doctor how I could increase the LDL level, he merely suggested, unhelpfully, that I should continue with the exercise and diet regime which I had been following since my previous appointment 3 months ago and which brought about these reductions!

Might there, by any chance, exist a dietary supplement which I could take in order to increase my LDL level, but not the HDL level at the same time? To date I have not taken any medication in connection with my cholesterol problem, and would prefer to continue not taking any.

Not sure if you have a typo but LDL is the "bad" cholesterol and HDL the "good" cholesterol so you should actually be happy by the reduction in LDL; don't change anything..

If it was a typo and you meant that your HDL is only 31, fish oil supplements are an effective means of raising it. That and dietary intake of healthy oils like canola, safflower, sunflower (and, of course, fish)

Ideally you want an HDL:LDL ratio of at least 0.4

A friend took chlorophyll, and with exercise and a healthy diet (cheewajit) reduced her numbers.

Hope you are keeping well,

All the Best,

As far as i know LDL is bad but HDL is good. LDL will increase the risk of heart disease. Im not sure if you would wanna increase LDL level.
