One of the Highlight events in the Chonburi Provincial Calendar is the provincial buffalo Racing contest which takes place in the grounds of Chonburi City Hall. Although for many, this looks to be a light-hearted affair, for the competitors and their buffalo’s this is a serious event as it could highlight their particular farm should they win which could bring them additional business in the future. In attendance at the event was Khun Sontaya, Adviser to the Prime Minister and Khun Pisit, the Governor of Chonburi Province. Onlookers of Thai and foreign nationalities enjoyed the buffalo racing which was both fast and furious.

Shouldn't we have a section to remind people about these events before

they happen, rather than after??

I will second the motion. :o

Got to be bloody quick here; That should now be I will third the motion. If such a statement exists. :D

I went to the races a few years ago and had a belting time.

I decided to stop off en route to Bangkok from Chanthaburi and have a look for an hour or so. I wound up spending most of the day there and getting in somewhat of a condition.

Well good idea in practice, but where to find the info ahead of time? :o

Its not very well known ouside of Thai circles but is starting to get more coverage in Farang circles. Chanthaburi was abuzz with talk of the festival in the week leading up to it.

Try the TAT website which lists festivals and events for each province.
