Hey guys

Can anybody tell me how much a decent personal trainer charges per hour in Bangkok who will come to my condo or local park.

Thanks.

If it's just general exercise of fitness tips you're after you can find everything you need to know online...

IMO personal trainers are not required unless you are competing or an elite athlete.

The key is to set yourself realistic goals and not to give up after not seeing instant results.....

give us your training program

and your fitness level bafore spouting off

my guess if you are at all,

you wouldnt be training anywhere near as effectively or safely

Very few people have the motivation and the understanding to get properly fit

not just lose a few kgs and be able to walk up a few flights of stairs.

Ignorant post imo

Gym at least 3 times a week + playing rugby + football when it takes my fancy.....good enough for you. ?...:whistling:

Trainers in Thailand certainly the Cal WOW types do not have clue of how to train someone safely or effectively.

As jebhead points out all the basic stuff you need you can get on the internet...

I train 5 - 6 days a week, weights & lots of cardio, i'm ex - military so know how to train.

As SP says there is no need to pay these over priced PT anything, very few of them have been properly trained themselves so the advice they're giving is basically <deleted>.....

Finy,

I agree with some of the other posters in that you do not really need to be paying out to PT'S. In fact i would go further and say that if you intend to make this a lifestyle change (and it needs to be if you seriously want to get fit) then it is much better you do it yourself - including the research. If you can't be bothered to commit to that then it is highly unlikely you will make physical training an integral part of your life.

Ok, off my soapbox, here's some tips: You need firstly to decide your objectives, i.e wt. loss or muscle mass/tone, or both? For overall health you are best to incorporate wt. training and cardio into your plan.

Ok, cardio first: Run or run and walk ( i don't know your fitness levels) for 20-30 mins if possible say 3-5 times a week. Gradually build up your ability to run further and faster by setting targets each week. You can use other cardio exercises if you don't like running. I would first build up the time you can run without stopping and then when you are fitter and more confident increase your speed levels.

Resistance training (wts): Start with some basic exercises (1 or 2) for each muscle group. i.e bicep curls for biceps, Lateral raises for shoulders, pulldowns for back etc. Do 2 sets of 12-15 reps of each exercise. Again build up your strength gradually on each exercise. Maybe begin with a basic 2x per week upper body and then lower body.

This should at least get you started and hopefully motivated to find out what, how, where and when etc. Good luck !
