Motorcycle License Requirements

Featured Replies

My wife just got a moto-sy and needs to get a license. Currently, she has neither license for car nor 2-wheeler. Someone mentioned that effective 1 August, the bar will be raised significantly for getting the 2-wheeler license (I know it's hard to believe there is any bar at all for licensing, just the kind they seem to stop at for a few hours before attempting to drive). Any info out there on current requirements and what they will change to (if they will) in August?

I have not heard of any changes, but this is Thailand . . .

My Thai wife got hers a few months back, and if yoru wife can drive a motorbike it will be no problem

She needs to get a note from her doctor. Mine was 100 Bt and hers, Thai, was 50 Bt ??? go figure ?

She needs some kind of ID card and house book or rental contrract, power bill etc

they test your sight, and have a written test on computer. If she fails she can take it again right away

Then there is a little drive test. 20m turn around the cone and return.

It takes most of the day but it can be done

First time you get a 1 year at about 150 or was it 155 bt. after that she can get a 5 year

remember, always wear your helmet and safe shoes !
