Can anyone recommend an antiques shop in the Khon Kaen area? I am in Mahasarakham, where antiques in good shape (especially furniture) are mighty hard to find

Nothing built or sold here of a high enough quality to last long enough to be considered antique.

I resent that.!!!! Many of us are in excess of 70 ,but you are right ,we we were not built here but we did age here. Gracefully? Well that is for others to judge. Sold here? ,distinct possibility. But have lasted long enough to be considered antiques .Collectable? - Absolutely NOT. Though we might like to think we are. Yours in facetiousness.

You will find locating antiques in most of Thailand very difficult....its been well and truly picked over...I have spent a lot of time in Isaan and have never seen anything of real value....but who knows what can happen...you have to just keep looking

The problem is that here in Isaan most people did not have enough money to afford nor own quality furniture back when it was old enough to now consider it "antique"... Very few Traditional "Isaan" households have or use much furniture even now, and far fewer many years ago...

yes, it starts with the no-chair no-sofa living room plus attractive aluminum cupboard via 5 wooden boards and 4 pillars (the bed) and ends with THE glass (just ONE for a party of 8 people)

We still dig up 2,000 year old shards of khmer pottery from time to time on any of our property.

Does this qualify as antique?

Since the Khmer empire began around 800 AD that qualifies as bull.
