My neice has a situation. Her father is a british national living and working in Thailand without a work permit. Her mother is from Indonesia. Cassi was born last year in thailand and gained a british passport through my application at the embassy. My bro still has no work permit and is having to pay for visas every 30 days etc. He is having a hard time. I advised that he should not send his wife and daughter to the border every month, only he should go. The max fine is 20k so if he waits a year or so then pays the fine when they go to jakarta all will be ok......? comments please

I believe that a baby of that age will not be required to pay any overstay charges.

No problem with the nipper, Moog is correct there is no overstay fine for youngsters up to 10 (I think).

More worried about Mum, what is her immigration status? If she gets caught on overstay (other than at an exit point) she will be locked up and deported!

Be most careful!
