Internet Tv (Sony Bravia Or Similar)

Featured Replies

I will soon need to purchase 10 flat-screen TVs for a new small hotel that I'll be building.

I've looked at what is available, and see that internet TVs are avaiulable from about 13,000 baht (22 inch). These support video and audio Skype, YouTube video downloads etc.

Does anyone have experience of the capabilities of these types of TV? Do they allow the user to specify and access any internet web site that they wish, such as ThaiVisa.com or web-to-email sites?

Is it possible to configure the default home page on these TV sets, such that I can provide customised guest information on the default home page from my own web server?

This will be a major expense for me, so I want to get independant advice/information on this subject, and not just the sales pith from the shop that is selling the equipment.

Thanks

Simon

The TV manual would probably give the answers you need. Normally available for download on the manufacturers' websites.

I can’t give you much information, but a little is better than nothing. I have the Sony Bravia 60NX810, so nearly top of the range. The internet services are limited here in Thailand because much of it is just not supported. On the Sony there is not yet a web browser, so you can’t navigate the internet. Facebook is available as an app, and it works well although a little fidgety when trying to type using the remote control, but I’m sure with practice that won’t be a problem. You Tube is available and working however the movie applications are only available to US customers. There are ways around this by setting up a proxy in the country the service is available (there are posts on that subject on this exact forum, so if interested just do a search)

Although I have no direct experience with them I would say that the new SAMSUNG internet TV's have the most internet features, whether they work here in Thailand I don’t know. But as for picture quality I would always go for the latest Sony models. But in your case look into the SAMSUNG Internet TV's they may have the extended internet features that you require. Sony will introduce a web browser sometime in the near future, and this will be accessed by using a Sony Bluetooth keyboard, so a little bit easier than using the remote control I am looking forward to the update!

Good luck
