Need Mukdahan Info

Featured Replies

I am arriving in Udon Thani at 7:00 pm and I need to catch a bus from there to Mukdahan that evening or really early in the morning so I can still get to the Savannakhet consulate the next day for visa run.

I need to know if there is an evening bus, and also it would be good to have a basic guesthouse recommendation for Mukdahan.

I just need a bed, so cheap but not gross.

Also info on getting to the consulate would be an extra bonus.

Bump!

I leave tomorrow. Is there no one from Mukdahan around?

I can't help you with the bus... but for a good, cheap, and very clean hotel, try the Hua Nam. About 300B. At the crossroads near the old immigration office.

Some interconnected info, believe departing or arriving is same same, at Mukdahan bus terminal 042611421 they used to have air con buses to Khon Kaen leaving every hour for 170thb, not sure about transferring to Udon Thani.

Huanam hotel 042611137 have clean simple rooms 300 thb.

Boat to Savannakhet 9am-3pm every day was 50 thb each way, dock is a two block walk from Huanam hotel.

No boats running - the rivers too high and dangerous. Get a bus from the Mukdahan bus station to the bridge. Transfer through immigration to the Thai/Laos bus and then get a tuk tuk on the other side to the consulate. Watch they don't con you no more than 200baht for the tuk tuk and have him wait to take you to the hotel coz you need to stay overnight (if you didn't already know) get to the consulate as early as you can to avoid the long queues. If you want to stay near the 'town centre' where a few bars and restaurants are then the Huanam Hotel is ok but if you just want a decent chalet then ask for Pornpraseart Resort which is fine. Good luck :jap:
