Since i have bought my fortunner two years ago i sometimes notice the engine just feels lazy

By lazy i mean it doesn't wanna accelerate as fast as i want it to, now sometimes when i first start the car in the morning and drive it around the city its normal and just accelerates fine

but sometimes in the afternoon when i hit the pedal hard it just doesn't respond as quick

now i dont know if thats normal or its just me

has any of you have similar experiences ?

There could be any number of explanations for what you're experiencing:

* Clogged EGR Valve/cooler (if diesel)

* Clogged catalytic converter

* Clogged air filter

* You've moved to a new city at higher elevation.

* It's warmer in the afternoons, and higher air temps means less HP.

* You're just getting used to the car.

* The car is just losing HP as it gets older (single digit % is normal over the designed life of a car)

* You're using a fuel with lower calorific value (gasohol if you have a 2.7L engine, or PTT if you have diesel)
