CONSTRUCTION OF THEOS SATELLITE IS NOW 30% COMPLETED, EXPRESSING CONFIDENCE THAT THE SATELLITE CAN BE LAUNCHED BY JULY 2007

Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Science and Technology Dr. Saksit Tridej (ศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ตรีเดช) indicated that the construction of Theos Satellite has been 30% completed, expressing confidence that the satellite can be launched by July 2007.

Dr. Saksit said that Theos Satellite will be the first satellite in Thailand to survey resources in the country. He said that the satellite will record images of the earth and the information gathered from the satellite will be used to manage resources, inspect forest encroachment as well as areas hit by floods and drought, and develop the country's economy, society and security.
