MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE WILL SET UP A NETWORK OF ANIMAL FOOD PRODUCERS TO PREPARE FOR THE 1 MILLION COW PROJECT

The Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives Ministry will set up a network of animal food producers to prepare for the 1 million cow project.

Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives Adisorn Piangkait (อดิศร เพียงเกษ) revealed that the ministry still faces problems in developing cow-raising industry, as there are limitations concerning plants that are used as animal food and high-quality raw food. He said that there is an increasing demand for animal food produce, as the government is pushing ahead with the "1 million cow project" within this month. Therefore, to prepare for the expansion of cow-raising industry, the Department of Livestock Development has set up a project to support farmers by providing seeds and plants for animal food.

Initially, the Department of Livestock Development will provide 250 tons of seeds for 250,000 farmers selected to participate in the project. Apart from receiving the 1 kilograms of seeds each, the farmers will be given training and advice on how to produce good-quality animal food. It is expected that the project will improve the quality of animal food, enabling the cows to accordingly.
