Do Any Free Webmail Services Allow Image Embedding?

Featured Replies

Do any free webmail services allow image embedding within the text, preferably by copying and pasting? I believe Thunderbird does but that resides on one's computer, so no use if using a public one. Thanks.

I've tried pasting images into my Yahoo Classic, GMail and Hotmail text bodies and they appear as 'Jpeg' icons but are not actually sent.

Gmail supports embedding images to the emails also as copy / paste. You can also drag and drop images from a webpage to email body.

I'm using Chrome on linux if that matters.

This does not work on my Gmail account when accessing as web based. Is there something that needs to be "turned on" ?

Done the click and drag images into gmail since forever. Never had to turn anything on; it just works.

Well, thank all of you for posting. I found that "insert image" does have to be enabled in the Labs tab of the settings. After enabling this, there is an "Insert Image" icon in the toolbar.

I normally access my Gmail account with an email client. However, when using a public compter obviously this is different.

Again, thank you all including the OP of course.

Thanks for that. I thought GMail did it but had forgotten the upload procedure via the Add-Image icon. Maybe some email programs you can just cut and paste. Thunderbird allows re-sizing during text composition.

In addition to the "add image" icon, simple copy paste of a picture works for me on Gmail in the browser. Using Chrome.

Apparently it's a feature available since last june: http://googleappsupdates.blogspot.com/2011/06/copy-and-paste-images-with-gmail.html

The drag and drop seems to work about the same as the insert image icon. Drag and drop for someone that usually does that would seem to make it more user friendly for that person. It still has to upload the picture to their server, which happens in either case when I tried it.

At any rate, as I mentioned, I usually use an email client for my use. The drag and drop would be more familiar to a lot of other people I think. Thank you for posting that link.
