Uk Tourist Visa!

Featured Replies

Me and my wife are gonna go over to Scotland in April for 10 days. We both have jobs here to return to(good reason to return). I dont see a problem with us getting her a visa. But one question that i have. If she applies in January and let says she gets her visa within 1-2 weeks or even on the spot. How long does she have to get into the country before the visa expires?

The visa will be valid for 6 months from the date of issue. Therefore, if issued in January, your wife would be able to travel to and stay in the UK until the corresponding date in July. You can, alternatively, ask for the visa's validity to be post-dated by up to 3 months.

Cheers,

Scouse.

Cheers Scouse. I thought at least 3 months. So thats cool. So when she goes for it(i'll go along too)

Passport

Letter from my employer and hers

Anything else?

Proof of sufficient funds to cover the stay in the UK - for your wife as the visa applicant that is, so either she needs to submit 6 months worth of bank statements, or if you are supporting her financially on the trip, you have to provide six months worth of bank statements and a letter indicating how you intend to support her during the trip (simple short explanation is fine). Also 3 months worth of pay slips, from her, or again from you if you're supporting her financially.

It would be worthwhile proving your relationship status (marriage cert with English translation) as it would need to be made clear she is travelling with you, unless she has family or friends she intends to stay with in the UK.

Proof of accommodation for the visit. In practice this is not always insisted upon or chased up, but at times it can prove a sticking point. If you're going to stay with family, get one of them to send a letter of invitation to you and your wife - or so it appears less contrived, a letter addressed 'To Whom It May Concern' explaining that you have been invited to stay with them between date x and date y. Otherwise, proof of hotel/guest house bookings perhaps.

Hi Jockstar,

In addition to the above advise. I think it would also be beneficial to show whatever proof you have, of your living together. i.e. Utility bills etc.

Hey guys. Thanks for the info. But is there anything else thats not mentioned i may need? Cheers.

I'd submit the documents that Khon Fused referred to, adding letters from your respective employers confirming the date upon which you are both expected to resume work. Additionally, enclose a copy of your passport with the application, showing your immigration status in Thailand.

Cheers,

Scouse.

Ah!

Well, provide evidence of all of your entries in to Thailand, thereby hoping to indicate that you've been doing it for so long, it's reasonable to assume you'll return to your job.

Scouse.
