Two Local Hotels Won Top Votes

The awards were announced in London this week showing of one of the most comprehensive travel trade polls amongst 156,000 travel agencies and professionals in over 140 countries worldwide who had been asked to vote for their leading travel destinations, airlines, hotels, personalities and companies around the world. 3,500 different nominations were made, with more than two million individual voting decisions completed.

Among the winners were two local hotels: the Amanpuri, in Phuket, as Asia’s Leading Spa Resort, and the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket as Thailand’s Leading Golf Resort, while the Tourism Authority of Thailand was Asia’s Leading Tourist & Convention Bureau. Pattanapong Aikwanich, President of the Phuket Tourism Association, was nominated as 1 of 4 in the Destination & Convention Bureau Travel Personalities of the Year, but this was won by Lord Marshall, Chairman of VisitBritain.
