I have a 2.7 diesel lump in my pickupo. It has been idling a bit fast for a while but is now up to about 12,000 rpm. Anybody know how I can drop this down. I am not that up to speed with diesel engines. The speedometer also has become intermittent and will stop working all of a sudden. Any ideas on this or where I can get a manual would be great. I will give more info on the model etc when the missus translates the book for me.

Cheers

Does the engine actually sound fast (I'm assuming 1200 RPM idle) or are you relying on the tacho?

Combined with the speedo issue I'd be looking at poor connections on the instrument cluster.

I think it's all a bit too late, if your diesel engine has been idling at 12,000 RPM ;)

Ooops 1,200 it is

The engine does sound as if it is idling too fast, I am a bit wary of taking the instrument cluster out before I have a manual.
