IAEA board adopts resolution voicing 'increasing concern' about Iran's nuclear work

Islamic radicals have made it very plain that they have no problem killing their fellow Muslims in large numbers. It is only a big deal if someone else does it.

The Iranian leadership are looking to bring forth the 12th Mahdi, chaos and the end of the world and a nuke would do nothing to hurt their cause.

Utter bull Ulysses...

Iran with a proud 3000 year old history willing to wipe itself out for the sake of hitting Israel once?

It is not Persia that is causing all these problems. It is the Islamic Republic of Iran and the religious zealots that control it that want war.

Who can tell exactly what is going on their leaders heads? I reckon nobody here can. We can only go by what they say and the actions that our "intelligence" reveals. No doubt the open hostility towards "Zionists" is an important tool for their leadership to use as a boogeyman to help them in their successful effort to massively repress the freedom of their own people.

They don't need a boogeyman to keep their citizens under control. They have MISIRI to handle that little chore.

They use Israel to fire up their base, Islamic fundamentalists.

I see your point, but consider this. It's about nationalism. When you have a hated enemy, even the majority there which I believe does not like the regime, will still support the regime, because they are Iranians. That is very understandable but it is a good tool make any dissidence un-Iranian. That's why it is so tricky for the USA to openly help the resistance movement there.

There is a lot of emphasis here on the relationship between nuclear weapons on Israel, which is really of lesser concern, IMO. Many of the Arab countries are scared witless of Iran and a number have plans to acquire nuclear weapons.

Nuclear attack could cause damage to Syria, an ally. It would certainly cause a great deal of social repercussions for an ally.

Agreed. People naturally want to talk about Israel because its always a hot button issue, but the truth is most other countries in the middle east strongly don't want to see a nuclear Iran. Most strongly, Saudi Arabia. They are totally OK with the current nuclear status quo in the region. If Iran gets them, many more regional countries will feel pressured to quickly get them.
