Are Exchange Booths In Bangkok Open 24/7?

Featured Replies

Arriving to Suvarnabhumi Airport very late. By the time I check-in to the hotel it will be just past midnight.

Is there any currency exchange booths open at this time near Asoke or Nana???

I understand the airport's currency changers never close. But I want to get the best rate possible. And thus avoid the airport altogether.

I assume Vasu Exchange is closed at this hour???

Yes, Vasu will be closed at that time. I would say exchange enough for your immediate needs at the airport, you are not talking that much of a loss with say 10K Bhat. Then, sounds like you will be near Vasu to take care of business the next day. FYI- Vasu is closed on Sundays.

The exchange desk immediately after immigration on arrival has always given good exchange rates in my experience.

Get enough there to see you through 24 hrs and then change at the booths later.

Out of curiosity, how much do the USD exchange rates vary between the airport and the street booths?

this very same Q comes up about every month-with every time more interesting but unfounded theories. Depends on amount of bills. IN the airport all banks give same rate-the same as IN town they give for small 1-2 notes-tipically they give more, up to 0,5 bt/$ for larger notes. Superrich opposite WTC usually gives very best rates, vasu just a tad less-I think though that Vasu is a daughter clone of SR. IF you come with 100US$ bills- you get about 50-60 bt per such bill more as at airport, f.e. 3075 vs. 3022. In fact this way (if you are brave enough to withstand the AmEx brainwashing ads) to bring cash and not TC-this way you even get more as per TC. Most of thse Qs however do not come from USAers, but other Asians-who often do not even know about TCs and all that. The tipical TV poster seems mostly also unable to even think there are other people as english speaking US and OZzies around and thus tends to give onesided answers

Superrich opposite WTC usually gives very best rates,

Super Rich have a new office on Silom Road, near the junction of Silom Road and Narathiwat Road (near BTS Chong Nonsi) It is a large 4 storey building painted in the Super Rich colours, so I am not sure what is happening to the offices opposite Central World / 'WTC'

There are two different Superrich, one is superrich 1965 (i think) and the other is superrich, I use the colours to tell them apart, I use the Green one and not the white and orange one.

Green is superrichthailand.com

or I use siamexchange.co.th (located near Siam Discovery, opposite the Princesses small house)
