Hi All,

I looked around on the forums but couldn't find specific answers I wanted.

I have a temporary (1 year) car driving licence that is expired. I would like to get the renewed and if possible updated to a 5 year licence. Please advice what the procedure is and what docs I need.

Also, I am considering getting a motorbike licence, what is the procedure for this and can it be combined with the car licence??

Thanks for the advice.

Check this: http://driving.infor...ng-licence.html

I didnt have the international licence at the time and my australian one was expired, so i got the one year licence and needed to sit the exam and drivers test when it expired the following year but was then given the 5yr licence. Shame i didnt get a licence when they still offered the non expiration lifetime licences for bikes, a mate has one.

edit: the doctors medical check is a good laugh, literally a stethoscope to the chest to assess whether you are alive and that was it!

Go to the DLT where you got your old 1 year license taking the same paperwork and photos that you took to get the 5 year license.

You must have had a valid license from your own country to get the first 1year license, and if you have motorcycle entitlement you get a separate license for that, filling out similar forms as for the car.

Some DLT's make you do a colour test and a reaction braking test, nothing to worry about just get along and do it.

Thanks.

I have no bike licence from home, only a car licence. What is the procedure for taking the bike test?

I got my MB DL 6 years ago, and I have never driven a MB!!, when I applied for the car license, they asked if I would like a MB license as well, so I said ok!

You little devil you.:D

If your lucky like ForkHads OK !! It does differ in DLT's from province to province how things are done but if not, our nephew did his a couple of weeks back, he watch a video, study the road signs took a written test and did a practical test around a circuit at the DLT, it was easy peasey.

You might need help with the written test if they do not have an English translated one, so take a Thai friend and some baht dosh maybe for a favour ( wink/wink ).
