I-Phone And Whatsapp

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My Mrs. uses whatsapp on her i-phone 4. when I send her a message (from my BB), it sometimes takes hours to go through..... it seems that she has to "check" to see if she has whatsapp messages, rather than the phone alerting her to new messages as it would say for an SMS message.

I have several other friends that use i-phone 4 whatsapp and do not have this problem. For all intents and purposes, whatsapp is the same as an sms on their i-phones ...... more or less instant..... as it is on my BB.

Can anyone point me in the right direction how to rectify this - I am pretty clueless when it comes to this kind of stuff :(

Thanks in advance.

Actually it is not like sms, whatapp uses data so if no wifi or a data plan it won't work. My friend also uses Whatapp with a BB but doesn't have a plan, she can only use it when connected to a wifi network.

With that said my guess is the internet connection is slow. I use an iPhone 4 and when I'm connected with TOT (sucks) at home whatpp also sometimes take hours for me to get a message, but when I'm outside it works fine.

Is it possible that somehow "push notifications" got disabled for Whatsapp on your wife's iPhone?

[edited to add:]

Before I posted above I took a quick look at my iPhone4's Settings to see where disabling push notification might be and couldn't find it. However, after I posted, I realized the setting is in the WhatsApp app itself:

Bottom of the screen, end-most icon is a "Settings" icon, Select "Notifications" and then you can verify that "Alerts" is "ON" and that a suitable tone is selected for "New Message" alerts, e.g. not "No Sound".
