Lanna International School Thailand (List)

This is my first posting on behalf of the school since we became a Thaivisa sponsor, so HELLO everyone. I don't intend to post very often and fill the forum with unwanted spam, but rather to post about significant school events that may be of interest to Thaivisa members. I'm sure you will let me know if I post too often!

As a new Thaivisa sponsor Lanna International School Thailand would like to invite you to a free screening of the acclaimed documentary "Living With The Tiger" at Lanna International School Thailand on Tuesday 10th Jan, 5.30pm to 8.00pm. A story of hope, compassion and tragedy...

This will be the only public screening of this documentary/film in Chiang Mai.

"Living With The Tiger" is an intimate and moving story about a group of HIV infected orphans in Thailand that have been abandoned by society. The story focuses on two of the children over a period of 3 years, and highlights the problems they encounter as they try to re-integrate back into their communities. Despite their traumatic experiences, they embark on the most unlikely of ventures for a group of teenagers from the countryside; a performance in an opera....

"Living With The Tiger" isn't a story of the predictable HIV outcomes but an inspirational tale of triumph over adversity, about children who are changing peoples views of HIV and enlightening the public about the disease and those who are not only infected, but affected by it.

If you intend to come along please send me a Personal Message indicating the number of people that will attend.

The film is considered by the director to be appropriate for people aged 12 years and over; LIST students from Y8 up will have seen the film in school on Tuesday morning.

The main spoken language is Thai, but it is subtitled in English throughout and is aimed very much at an international audience. To find out more about this amazing film please visit the website http://www.livingwiththetiger.com or Google "Living With The Tiger" to find many interesting reviews.

If you have friends who may be interested please forward this post to them. This is an open invitation to all.

I hope to see you there (please don't forget to send me a Personal Message with numbers if you plan to attend this free screening),

Mr Kevin Pugh

(LIST Secondary School Principal)

As the Director of 'Living with the Tiger', I'm very happy to be invited by LIST for a screening of the film and Q & A session on Tuesday 10th. This will be our only public event in Chiang Mai so I hope it's of interest to members of ThaiVisa.

Please don't be put off by the subject matter. It's not what you think. In fact, it's about issues that affect all of us - family, belonging and acceptance. The children that feature in the film will likely surprise many people. We receive lots of comments saying how inspiring they are.

You can also be entertained by something that rarely happens in the Thai countryside - an opera!

Look forward to seeing you there.

It's a shame that there seems to be so little interest generated amongst Thaivisa members by an opportunity to do something "different" and perhaps a little challenging in Chiang Mai. Maybe the school should consider offering beer and other assorted sideshows... Is that what it takes to get folks moving?

Oh well, I'll be there - I hope some of you will be too!

Sad to say I wouldn't hold your breath re interest or attendance.

Seems that the only way to generate substantial feedback is to have a title such as:

"Sexpat-loving, dangerous-driving ladyboy discovers best pizza in Chiang Mai. PS loves Thaksin too"
