Bad Weather Warning

Featured Replies

Seems the Low pressure area down South is going to move up almost overhead Samui this weekend.

Monday is forecast around 4M waves and S. winds up to 53 Knots with heavy rain.

Checked with Wind Guru and Passage weather and they both say the same thing.

I'm not taking any chances and going to move my boat out of the water!

Probably a smart thing to do. Can't remember ever seeing that purple/blue-ish color on Windguru before. Must be some serious wind and rain coming this way this coming Sunday and Monday.

That whole b ad weather front has evaporated, like snow for the sun.

Dammit! I am going to Ko Tao this weekend, and was really looking forward to this!

No, I wanted the storms!

You wanted to Surf all the way there didn't you. wink.png

oooh dodgy hit-the-fan.gif

I had some customers who went across to KPN on Jet-skis once - I told them that they were absolutley mental.

Koh Tao will still be there. Don't panic. Just moister...

What - just go and moister . . .? Like, as in, be all damply laid-back? ("Ah'm jest gonna mositer over to Koh Tao awhile"?)

Like it! thumbsup.gif

(... don't worry, be moister guitar.gif )

It's cos Samui has zero magnetic gravity - ask any new-age crystalhead.

Is that cos of the secret American base up in the mountains? ph34r.png

Not sure when it happened, but the high tides and strong winds have washed away the pier on Koh Som.

the weather has been unkind to the tourists this xmas/new year...................not even a wet season, just windy, cool and sqaully rain

The BBC weather guy on the TV shows that the rain will miss Samui, and he wouldn't lie. Would he? cool.png

I don't know....I keep looking at the forecasts and saying to people, "The rain is coming," and nothing happens....

Actually it depends where you are! It poured down in Nanthon around 1 pm, only in the "down town core" ....

As they say some times!!!! ... wait 5 minutes and see what happens or head down the road a few kilometers! dry.pngunsure.png

Well, it was rough enough on the catamaran from Mae Nam to Ko Tao yesterday that they were handing out sick bags; more than a few were used too! Not surprisingly, there was not one beer sold for the entire crossing...

We just had about an hour of fairly steady rain, and the sky's coming dark again...

The TMD website is the only one warning of "isolated heavy to very heavy rain especially in Surat Thani" and that "strong wind-waves in the Gulf of Thailand are expected 2-3 meters high" - are they ahead of the curve or behind the times??

It is happening now in Plai Laem. Very wet.

The BBC weather guy on the TV shows that the rain will miss Samui, and he wouldn't lie. Would he? cool.png

Yes he did !mad.gif

Well it's been raining non stop now for at least 15 hours in Lamai Valley. Flooded roads etc. Maybe windguru should have left their original predictions made earlier last week. After all, let's face it, it is just a prediction.

Maenam area, the rain is getting heavier, but no signs of flooding around me yet... rain seems to be coming and going... but looking like it has set in for a while ... ohmy.png

Based on all the forecasts, it was supposed to be getting better... Have someone arriving from great white north, this afternoon, I promised it was getting better! oh dear! ph34r.png
