Stress Test

Featured Replies

Anybody know what the settings on the tredmill are when doing a stress test.

Speed, inclenation and time settings ect

Cheers

They start off slow and ramp it up gradually according to the patient's tolerance. Time also depends on tolerance i.e. they will stop as soon as the EKG shows any ischemic changes or arrythmias.

I don't think there is much inclination if any.

I have problems making this test in Thailand as everywhere they seem to use a tredmill instead of a bicycle.I can not use the mill as ,due to a stroke my left leg can not move fast.I have asked all hospitals in Had Yai where I live and 3 hospitals in Bangkok including Phya Thai 2 hospital.Does anybody know a hospital in Bangkok where they use a bicycle?

have it done by dobutamine stress echocardiography if you have problems walking the tredmill ... simple, safe and just as reliable (even slightly higher sensitivity) as the tredmill / bicycle

I did a stress test last year and the treadmill started off flat and was raised every 3 minutes, total test time nine minutes. I'd estimate the inclination ended up being 25 degrees. Speed of the treadmill wasn't fast for me but I walk faster than most people I know. Still, it had me breathing a bit hard at the the end, probably due to the incline more than anything else as there aren't any hills where I live.

I am not sure if this Vejthani Hospital Stress Test handout is general information or specific but it says use of "treadmill or bicycle" so might be worth a call to cardiac unit to check. Hospital phone is 02 734 0000.

If you do the treadmill be sure to wear shorts that won't fall down!

They supplied pants and indeed they did fall down.rolleyes.gif

Can not figure how to tie single elastic waist band securely (without a girlish figure).

Found my test report printout...

Stage 1: Speed 2.72kph Grade 10%

Stage 2: Speed 4.00kph Grade 12%

Stage 3: Speed 5.44kph Grade 14%
