Giant Loft Space In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Very inspired by the lofts in movies Zoolander, Face/Off and Step Up 3. I searched around and couldn't really find any pictures. If you search YouTube for "Cool story, Hansel!" you can see his kitchen.

I can't find any spaces like this in Bangkok online. All units are much smaller and already furnished with furniture I don't want most of the time. Does anybody know of any resources or contacts I could look into to find a big loft space in Bangkok? It can be pretty bare to start out, I would be willing to invest in fixing the place up.

Thanks,

Cory

If you look and ask around, you might find a sizable space over a double shophouse where the center wall has been knocked down.

The main reason for not having giant loft in Bangkok, it's the weather.

Ten -or so- years ago, a friend of mine rented and renovated a 400 square meter -ex factory- full open space, just in front of the river in Yaowarat.

Even with industrial air-con, it was impossible to cool down that huge space who had as well 5 meters high windows floor to ceiling.

LazyGormet is right. My "room" in Phra Khanong is more loft like at almost 70 s/m with 11 foot ceiling. It is very expensive and difficult to air condition, especially during hot season when my electric bills can top B5000/mo. and thats with paying the direct rate of B3/unit.

Though I like the open feel, I'm trying now to come up with a workable way to partition off my sleeping area so I'm not cooling the whole place at night.

Good point about the air con. I don't think that's a showstopper though.

Does anybody know the best area in Bangkok to look around for this?
