There is a 500 baht departure tax which you pay when you fly out of Thailand.

Any flight out of Thailand will cost 500 baht in airport departure tax. If you go by land you don't pay that. If you (your passport) has visa free entry to Malaysia it will not cost anything to enter/exit.

Remember that a tourist visa only allows 60 days but can be extended at an immigration point for another 30 days for 1,900 baht. Are you sure it is a tourist visa and not a non immigrant visa? Can't understand the question about salary for a tourist.

Perhaps but he did say income/savings rather than cash. Also his use of "multi" instead of a number of entries for visa made me suspect he might have a non immigrant visa (and thinking of retirement income/salary requirements). But only he knows. :o
