One Week M/Bike Loop

Featured Replies

Hi everyone ,

Early april i am going to do a loop by motorbike from CR to Mae salong,Mai sai,Chiang saen,Chiang khong,Phu chee fah then returning to CR my questions are as follows

Will it be any cooler up north that time of year compared to bkk etc

Will i have trouble with the language i have spent a couple of years in Thailand and am able to speak a reasonable amount but not sure how much english or other dialects i will encounter.

Accommodation in the above places any recomendations?.

Bars in CR any reccomendations? I'm guessing there won,t be much nightlife in the places other than CR ?

thx in advance

Mick

Personally I lockup the bike for the month of April. Too hot and they throw water for roughly three weeks during Songkran. Very dangerous, the road are crowded and there are many deaths during that time. Right now is the best time of year for riding. Off to Mae Salong myself this morning as the weather is great today.

As a tourist you will do fine in these areas with English and a bit of Thai.

I did take the camera but it was not a great day for panoramas in the mountains. Besides I have a backlog of shots from a mountain bike ride I took yesterday. I have started shooting in RAW again and it takes a little more work.

I think it is actually hotter in CR area in april than in bangkok....in 3 words: Hot as Hell.

Great shots of the Mae Salong tea. And, yeah, what he said, f'ing hot in April, though Mae Salong may get some breezes.

To the OP. You might be better off finding a comfortable place in CR to use as your base and then do day trips to the various places you have mentioned. That way you will be assured of having something to do each evening.
