In Chiang Mai it's so nice right now, cool and sunny, in BKK it's hot from what i here and humid of course. What about Udon? Phu Foi Lom is a provincial park southwest of town on a mountain top. Phu Kradung is a national park on a mountain top west of town. They are both worth the visit.
