Immigration Wants To See Teachers License To Give Extension On Non B.

I went to extend my Non B with work permit at Sakhon Nakhon. I was told that I needed my teachers certificate to do this. The school said that they had applied for one 3 months ago, but do not have it.

Has this also happened to anyone else?

A friend says she called the offices in Bangkok about Teachers Temporary License, and she was told that without a degree no license would be issued.??? The school I work for knows that I have a diploma and not a degree. I find this kind of hard to believe. Anyone have any experience about this? Is a degree necessary to get a Temporary Teachers License??

The teachers council can take a long time to issue a waiver for the license.

As for the need for a degree, you either need a degree to get a teaching license or have a teaching license from abroad in combination with teaching experience before you can start the necesarry road to a teaching license.

Thanks for the website Mario. This is the first time I have been asked by immigration for such a document.

Teachers who have not met the Council’s requirements; therefore this is an alternative way to assist:

1. Your employing school headmaster/ principal needs to provide a written request to the secretary-general of the Council requesting the exception of professional qualification, including the reasons why the school has to employ you.

2. Gather other required documents:

- A copy of passport with photo and signature or other evidence identified legally immigration

- A copy of employment contract

- A copy of degree or educational background

- One of 1 inch photographs without dark glasses taken within 6 months

3. Send the written request and required documents to the Secretariat Office of the Teachers’ Council of Thailand.

After consideration of the reasons and documents attached, the Council will provide you with a two-year provisional teaching permit.

Who wanted to see your teacher's licence, immigration department or labour department?

In our province they are both Immigration and Labour.

Now you have got me confused. Are you saying that in your province (which province?) that they have amalgamated the Labour Dept and the Immigration Dept? unsure.png They are 2 separate department under separate government ministries with separate roles. Labour Dept issues work permits. Immigration Dept gives you permission to stay.

Immigration rules since 2008 clearly state that you need a teaching license (or waiver)*. More and more labour offices now seem to be of the same opinion, and I believe that is also in their rules.

But it doesn't mater who ask for it, you need it.

*Edit: depending on the type of school.

A copy of my TL is always submitted with my paperwork for an extension of Stay. It is the same for all employees at the school where I work.

Concur. For the Immigration rules have a look at Police Order 777/2551.

Since 2010 Labour adopted the TCT requirements in the WP.1 (initial work permit) and WP.5 (work permit renewal).

Immigration Sakhon Nakhon wants to see teachers license to extend visa. I never had this problem with Amnat Charoen Immigration.
