AIMS AT SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT TO BE TESTED BY DEPUTY TRANSPORT MINISTER WITHIN NEXT WEEK

Deputy Minister of Transport CHAINANT CHAROENSIRI (ชัยนันท์ เจริญศิริ) will test the new Suvarnabhumi Airport's Administrative and Information Management System (AIMS) next week. He has also confirmed that the contractors will not reduce the quality of construction materials even though their prices have increased.

Gen. CHAINANT has revealed that the construction of the new airport is nearly completed, especially the runways, in which the Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited is in the midst of waiting to receive further instructions.

He added that the testing of the AIMS together with the CTX 9000 bomb detectors and baggage conveyer belts will take place next week, and the testing of the entire system is expected to be completed next year prior to its opening for commercial purposes in June 2006.

He added that a team is closely monitoring the construction to ensure that the quality of construction materials is not downgraded.

There are no ATM's at the new airport yet - they are all still arriving at Don Muang, then straight to Nana Plaza & Soi Cowboy :o:D:D
