Reversal Of Sterilisation For My Girlfriend

Featured Replies

Hi Guys......

My girlfriend and I want to start a family. She is 33 and after her first 2 children, she was sterilised at age 21.

We are wanting to reverse this process, and have been to see the doctors. My sperm count is good, and she has had xrays and blood tests etc, and she is good to go too.

The next stage we have been told by Siriraj hospital, is that she should have a camera inside to see if she should go through with the operation, then if that is good, we can proceed to the op. The only thing is though, is that because Siriraj is such a good hospital, and it is located in Bangkok, the waiting list is over 7 months for the operation. This is quite long for us to wait, as we were planning on living in England for a while (where the waiting lists are 2 years i have read).

So my girlfriend and I are looking for another hospital in Thailand, preferably a government hospital, although we would consider private.

Has anyone had any experience with this operation, or know anyone who has, and do you know where they got it done, how long they had to wait, and how well they were treated??

We live in Hua Hin, and she is from Kalasin, but we would not mind to travel anywhere in the Kingdom for the operation.......

thanks in advance, and best wishes to all,

Jason

Any government hospital is going to have a waiting list since this is an elective procedure.

And it is going to cost 5 - 10 times more at a private hospital, though with no wait. With no assurrance of success especially given how much time has elapsed. You are probably looking at less than 50-50 odds.

Least expensive options would be non-profit hospitals like Saint Louis and Bangkok Christian, both in Bangkok in the Silom-Sathorn area. I'd start with St Louis, usually the less expensive of the two, and perfectly fine standard of care.

BTW if reversal is unsuccessful there are still options for having a child thru IVF using her eggs and your sperm. Costly though.

thanks for reply Sheryl..... much appreciated u taking the time...........

just as an update..... we went for the camera assessment and this took place quickly and efficienlty at Siriraj..... we were told the price could be up to 30,000B, so was pleased when price was 12,000B after the operation. assessment went well and the doctor told my girlfriend to come back following week for the results. we went back 7 days later and the doctor said she would be able to proceed as it was possible the reversal could be successful. we then went to admissions dept, and the lady told us, that if we were prepared to pay a little more, we could come in for weekend operation, when the doctors work overtime. we agreed and the appointment is this saturday. she will be in hospital for 4 nights. will post back how we get on. one thing i must say i am very impressed with is Siriraj. seems a great hospital and very efficient....

fingers crossed wai.gif
