February 18, 201214 yr They never sold out... Metallica sold out and are worthy of nothing more than contempt. They are still shit. fuc_king Lou Reed indeed...Lars stealing back from the fans.... Anthrax tried to; but because they all hated each other, they broke up anyroad. Worship Music is any good however, really very good... Megadeth done OK until Mustaine fired Dave E....Dave E is back Exodus should be in there. But SLAYER are the true Thrash Gods.... They embarrass all of the above
February 19, 201214 yr And here I was of the understanding that only the English language may be used in TV...
February 19, 201214 yr Give him time, he's new here and posting at 22.35pm. No excuse for Tutsi babbling on about great French movies though, as if most of us aren't insecure enough already. I like metal, not sure of it's different sub-genre though.

I like metal, not sure of it's different sub-genre though. well, you know...Robert Johnson introduced metal with the slide guitar (the crossroads on highway 61 and de debbil? a metal hallmark)...then Elmore James refined it...then Muddy Waters set the propulsion on fire and oh, dear...an' them white boys think they know it all... Jean, Papet and Ugolin from the film Jean de Florette down the pub at Bastides with a fully electrified Dust my broom...a metallic nightmare with a hunchback in the lead... someone said that Led Zep was the original metal band but I think that Jimmy Paige would disagree...he would probably be offended... please continue the discussion...
February 19, 201214 yr no...it was even earlier than that...here's an 8 y.o. tutsi with his grandad outside of the 5th street arcade in Nashville listenin' to a blind negro busker in the 50s...he had a chair and played delta music with an open tuning and I was transfixed along with others, wannabe musicians, greasers with long hair quiffs and tight jeans and boots listenin' to the real stuff...then me grandad who was embarrassed said: 'let's get outta here, Buck (me Tennessee grandfolks called me Buck)...don't wanna be listenin' to old nigger music...' 'old nigger music'!...the genre was recognized back in them days!...as opposed to 'hill billy music' that then morphed into c&w...good god I was in the cradle of american popular music in the 50s in Nashville and didn't know it! tutsiwarrior was present at the creation of metal music in 50s Nashville...
February 19, 201214 yr I think a lot of 60s bands experimented with it, you probably saw more of it live in clubs and small gigs, where they would get a few drinks in and crank it up, than you did on albums. I saw some pretty wild shows in pubs back in the day. Then a few of them decided lets do this all the time. Hard to say who really started the trend. Lots of influences.
February 19, 201214 yr then there was the guitarist with the Kinks and the solo from 'You really got me' in the early 60s...some music critics have highlighted that piece as the progenitor of thrash...kids doin' the surfer stomp with a local band at the Huntington Beach pier in Californnia in 1964...tutsiwarrior was in attendance...

If the gutiar in 'You really got me' is 'thrash', then I'm all for it. (Just shows I don't know much about music terminology.) I'd never have associated the Kinks with my understanding of heavy metal, though. But some of the stuff I don't mind - remember Bachman Turner Overdrive? They had a heck of a lot of good stuff that, for some reason, was never sufficiently commercial to hit the airwaves.
February 20, 201214 yr phew , reminds me of getting thrown out of pubs when I was a kid , but there was a message in there somewhere , blah blah and now I am old
