Hi All,

Ive just got married and need a nice place to take my wife and Father for dinner tonight, something stylish, good atmosphere, of course good food Thai/Falang, maybe a live band and not too expensive!

I have been recommended the buffet at the J.W. Marriot Soi 2, is the buffet there worth the 999.- baht they charge??

I know its a bit short notice but any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

The places I tend to go to do their running buffet at nearer 99 bt rather than.....

Re:the Oriential Terrace agree very nice but the last time i was there (just for a beer) the guy on the next table was scoffing beans on toast and reading what looked like the Thai edition of the Sun.....wotever :D

Any good 4 star hotel in Silom/Suk should have what you are looking for....Holiday Inn,Landmark,Dusit,Hilton,Conrad,Honey.....

Another place we use quite a lot is the "Boa" Restaurant group that look classy,good food,service and usually a wee band on the terrace but its near Secon Sq. on Sri nak so maybe a bit too far.... :o

i think your too far up your own backside, so what if someones eating beans on toast,( very good source of fibre ) ......"when in Italy one cannot dine on pasta every night" and further to the point the sun is the best selling tabloid in the uk..... :D

The best food I've eaten in Bangkok (apart from the wife's cooking, of course :o ) is at a small restaurant in Bangsu, in a soi off the main drag, with a 7/11 on the corner. Their fried fish in sweet chilli sauce is out of this world! :D

But as it's open fronted, with a concrete floor, wobbly stools to sit on at formica topped tables, with the food served on plastic plates and tin cutlery, and the standard issue bog roll in lieu of knapkins, it's not exactly upmarket!

Im stuffed!!!

Went to the Marriot, great buffet.

Good selection of food, very nice suschi (ate for more than the price of the buffet 990.-) nice steak carvery, good selection of cheeses and desserts;

Drinks a bit pricy, 300,- for a glass of wine, 220.- for a heineken, and 260.- for a large bottle of Evian.

All in all a nice evening, 3 persons just under 5000.- baht.

Went to NEP after and started to regret getting married. :o j/k :D

Thx for the PM's and the recommendations!
