Macbook Air 13" Lower Than Thai Retail Price

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know where I can buy a new Macbook Air 13" 128GB (International English) lower than Thai retail price in Thailand ?

I may be flying direct to Chiang Mai but if there is a place in BKK etc I'd stop there for a day or so to pick one up.

It is about 42,900 Baht.

I guess I'd get a VAT refund as a tourist as well. Not sure what % that would be.

I know I could get it cheaper in Singapore but it may be 3-6 months till I get there.

I dont think U can get VAT refund if U purchase from Apple Online store.

Few shops do offer VAT refund. 1 of them I know is www.powerbuy.co.th

Not sure about cheaper Macbook Air from other source

Aha, just found the model I'm after .

I could not find where they are in BKK or Chiang Mai from their location page.

Do you know where they are located please ?

According to Google Translate, they have 25 locations across Thailand. Granted the translation isn't perfect, so it's unclear if they're in Chiang Mai or not.

Powerbuy are normally in Central and Robinson stores.

I don't have an ed visa for ed. discount and it is only 1000 Baht anyway !

VAT refund is about 4-5000 Baht on MBAir if you exit from an airport with correct refund documentation.

Don't think one is really need. If you have a friend that is studying you can their info. A friend of mine did that, he just entered their student info, school name and address and was able to get the discount.

you don't need input any student data, name, school or anything in Asian education apple online stores. eg. Thailand, HK, Singapore etc.

Just order it as per a normal order on the education store. No additional information required.

If you really want a huge saving. Order from education store from Apple HongKong online store and get it delivered to shipito.com in HK.

Saved about 8000THB on the Thai price on a macbook Pro 15" doing it this way.

The ed. discount is less than the legitimate tourist discount, and I'd not be happy shipping it into Thailand as it would get taxed or disappear. Hopefully I could get the VAT refund paperwork at that Power Buy shop

There is 1 PowerBuy shop very close to ChiangMai Airport. It is on very top floor of Central Airport Plaza Chiang Mai

Just go to an iStudio Shop and ask for VAT refund when you by the MacBook. They are authorized reseller and in any bigger city in Thailand. In Chiang Mai you can find them at Central Airport Plaza.

You have to pay the full price at the shop and you will get back the 7% VAT at the airport.

Perfect. Thank you kind sir. That 7% adds up to a roundtrip flight almost on AirAsia. jap.gif
