I can't make any sense of the transliteration whatsoever.

Can you get your girlfriend to write down what the condition is, scan it (or photo it), email it to you, and you then post the image here?

yes, sounds like either meningitis or encephalitis. Certainly not leukemia.

This can be either viral or bacterial. if bacterial will be treated with IV antibiotics, otherwise just supportive care.

What hospital is he in? I assume government, but government at what level? Should go to a regional hospital (if not already there) if possible.

If you can get the doctor or your wife to write it down in Thai then email it to you, I always use the "Google translate" function and it is just awesome for that. Can translate from Thai to any language you want. Just copy and paste into translate. I'm sorry to hear about this and hope everything goes well for you all.

Get through to the doctor. I'm pretty sure he knows the English Medical Term of the disease. Most Thai docs cant speak English well but they sure can read and write.

Hi Jay,

You could call your GF and let her say it again, while you record it in an MP3 format or other format that can be e-mailed. Then Email the voice message to someone that can translate for you.

Just where does your GF live - in most places there will be some one who can translate for you, and certainly most doctors can. Most places also has access to a scanner or fax machine - certainly at hospitals.

The best thing would proberly be to get the hospital fax or emil the describtion iin Lation and then you can have it explained by a Doctor in your own country.

Good Luck !
