I don't want to sound ungrateful here, but I'm sick of writing restaurant reviews. It never gets any easier. I love to write, that's my passion and I do it for a living (believe it or not, I can be very focused and coherent :D ) but.... I find it so difficult to write restaurant reviews, even though my readers love what I write.

Most establishments on Phuket- I find- just don't get what it is to offer good service to an international clientele. Maybe I'm being too picky, but when trying to give an honest opinion about an eatery that will never stand out in a crowd and I have to constantly revert to the power of my imagination ... it gets difficult - free food and wine or not!!!

So after a long hard year, as I attempt to bash out yet another 500 highly creative words, I'm wondering:

What irks my fellow TV'ers about your own jobs? :o

On second thoughts, I'm passed the starter and the main; I so can't recommend the chocolate mousse. What am I gonna talk about? :D

I know: the WINE cellar! :D

It's all yours baby....... believe me, these jobs are far from glamorous. Well, depends who you work for I guess. How about, you join me on a dining review gig during your next stint in LOS? Things may be so much more upmarket by then :D

Of course :o , anyway, this thread is not about me, me, me !!! :D It's for all us TV'ers to have a whinge - to get off our chests- what we didn't like about our job this year.... if anything. :D Just a way to cleanse, that's all....

I don't like when my whole days profit is relying on some egotistical, over-paid & selfish person that just doesnt feel like giving any effort and it costs me. :o

To be honest I would be hard pressed to find anything that I don't like about my job. I'm very fortunate to have a job that is both my vocation and advocation. I constantly require a challenge and at CMU they're quite happy to give it to me. :D

However if I had to choose one thing that I don't enjoy that is being responsible for proof reading all manuscripts being submitted for publication (being the only native English speaker here). :o

I have been in this job only for two months...

so I can only complain about two things...

I don´t like to wake up at 6.00 a.m

I don´t like that some of my work mates are moaning about how unhappy they are in this job....from 8 to 15h, 5 days a week, 21 day a month... :o

I quite like my job

The people I deal with are going through a traumatic part of their lives, they feel scared and vunerable, they are usually under a lot of stress also. I get a kick out of helping them through it and the gratitude that is shown at the end make sit all worthwhile.

I also get to beat some of them up legally which is fun too :o

Faire enough - we'll save your restaurant reviews for another thread!!! :D

I'm incredibly lucky, in that I work for myself: I decide my own itinerary, the pay is better than I would get anywhere else, I have 5-6 holidays a year, my staff are (in the main) very good, so the business runs well in my absence.......

BUT.......

I'm no longer totally happy doing what I'm doing. I deal with clients I dislike, working for the ungrateful who are notoriously slow in paying; running a business in the UK gets harder every year: for the first time in my working life, work isn't as much fun as it used to be. Please don't misunderstand me - I am not whingeing - I am acutely aware that I am very fortunate indeed. I just want to be in LOS.

When I am there for good, I shall sit back for 6 months and just look around at business, try to see a niche in which to work, and how business is done in LOS, then decide what I want to do. Maybe I'll work for myself, maybe not; maybe full-time, maybe part-time - who knows.

I am planning so that I work because I want to, not because I must, so I save and invest for the future.

There worst part of my job is that I do not have a job. I spent 10 hours a day pretending that I am doing something and talking BS.

Oh well, I am up for a pay rise in April so I will see how big it is, if it is not up to par then I will look for something else. There is work coming up in korea, it is less money than I am on now but atleast I will be able to feel as though I m acheiving something.

So the worst part of my job is boredom.
