DISASTER PREVENTION AND MITIGATION DEPARTMENT CONSIDER MEASURES ON PREVENTING AND HANDLING PUBLIC HAZARD

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has called a meeting with the Civil Defense Committee to consider measures on preventing and handling public hazards.

The Interior Minister, Air Chief Marshal KONGSAK WANTHANA (คงศักดิ์ วันทนา), presided over the meeting at the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, attended by related agencies. The meeting aimed to observe related agencies’ performance on providing assistances to disasters-hit victims, and the agencies also briefly acknowledged the participants about the details of damage caused by the tsunami, tropical storm Damrey, as well as drought and cold weather crises.

The meeting also concerned over emigration laws for people in risky areas, establishment of preventive disaster center, and seeking methods to deal with possible disaster in the future.

The Interior Minister also gave the department instructions on the implementation procedures, and he was informed about the department’s performance.
