INDONESIAN PRESIDENT ON AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO THAILAND

The president of Indonesia is paying an official visit to Thailand as a guest of the Royal Thai government.

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his wife Anee Bambang Yudhoyono arrived in Thailand yesterday and were warmly welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Surakiart Sathienthai (สุเกียรติ เสถียรไทย). Their visit is to mark the occasion of the 55th anniversary of Thailand-Indonesia diplomatic relationship.

President Bambang was invited to a lunch time conference with the private sector. On this occasion the Indonesian president delivered a speech on the new dimension of economic, social, and cultural collaboration between Indonesia and Thailand. At the same time Mr. Yudhoyono's wife paid a visit to the OTOP office of the Export Promotion Department where she observed a number of OTOP products.

The Indonesian president and his wife are expected to have an audience with their majesties the King and the Queen and they are also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Thaksin Shinwatra this week. A memorandum of understanding in agricultural cooperation between Thailand and Indonesia is expected to be signed during this visit by the Indonesian president.

THAI AND INDONESIAN DELEGATIONS ARE MEETING TO DISCUSS COLLABORATIONS AND TO SIGN AN MOU IN AGRICULTURE

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is hosting a full-delegation meeting with the visiting Indonesian President, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, where a memorandum of understanding in agricultural collaboration will also be signed today.

Indonesian President Bambang this morning met with Prime Minister Thaksin at the Government House to enter full-delegation discussions regarding collaborations in fisheries, energy, and anti-terrorism. An official welcoming ceremony was held before the Thai and Indonesian delegations started their discussions.
