Just curious & did not want to tag on to the Mazda or Ford threads but,

I will be arriving in Chiang Mai probably May/June & want to buy a new truck.

I had my eye on the Mazda or Ford but am not so particular....

I could be just as happy with a Toyota or Isuzu probably

non 4WD but a good 4 door truck.

I am wondering is the lack of availability just with the Mazda/Ford or is it

likely any truck I want will have a waiting period?

We sold our car there on our last trip so I do not want to rent

for months.

Is it possible to walk into a dealer & drive out a new truck? Or

are all dealers basically ordering a truck when a buyer arrives?

Thanks

Flying, it depends on models, but Ford quoted me June for the 3.2 Wildtrak.

Chevrolet quoted 1 month for the 2.8 LTZ71 4x4.

Toyota had Vigo in stock but won't let you test drive.

I have yet to take a look at Isuzu.

Thanks DLock

That is odd salesmanship regarding the Toyota eh?

Hmmm I hate to buy sight unseen but I am almost tempted to put a deposit

on one now in the hopes of it being ready when I arrive.

Nah on second thought that would not allow any haggling for extras ;)

Thanks

If non 4X4 and MT may/jun you should be OK on most. Mazdas and Fords trickling in now, just behind on the 3.2 models for most part and AT! I had a deposit on a 3.2 Wildtrack since december, but will be taking delivery on a Toyota in a few days, can't hold out any longer, but, I was waiting on 4X4 AT, so went with the Vigo G, as I wanted leather and power seats!

Thanks Backwoods that is reassuring to hear & may work out fine then.

Ideally & I know the Mazda is not everyones cup-O-tea but ideally I would like the

Mazda DBL 2.2 Hi-Racer that would suit my needs just fine ;)

Thanks

Ouch......rental for 2 months would suck :(

hopefully by the time we get there things are caught up a bit.

All these delivery times are soon going to blow out even further gents, once bookings start pouring in at the motor show (starting on the 28th). So if you really need a truck soon, I'd recommend getting your booking in before the show starts...

Steven is correct.

I went to look at the 4x4 Isuzu Prestige (4 door) and was quoted at least 3 months...but I wasn't confident they they really believe that.

For me, a truck is a truck, but I do prefer the top of any truck model and 4x4...and that seems to be the most delayed truck.

Took me 32 days to get a 2012 Toyota Vigo, AT,4x4, 4DR. I have found checking different dealers, gets you different results! By the way, this truck is now only 3 days since delivery, so not an old post!

...it's not about what one can get...it's about what one can get what's one wants...(or something like that) wink.png

Don't think a 4X2 in almost anything will be a problem in a few months, problem right now was a backlog due to floods. Ford/Mazda the ones doing a backpedal using every excuse in the world on the 3.2 platform, as they just sent another excuse letter out with promise of new info in May! Mitsubishi seems to be most available, but have seen a few others with "other than 4X4 or AT" models on lots. Wildtrack form Ford seems to be the mistake of the year for taking preorders and not being able to deliver in a half years time!!

Just back from the motor show where I ordered the Chevy Colorado - claims 3-4 week delivery. One of the Sales Managers took the order and contacted the Chiang Mai Manager to confirm the timing. Ordered the LTZ Z1 4x4.

What was interesting is that I decided to try Ford one last time. Apparently the Ranger 3.2 Wildtrak will not ship in 2012. They are no longer taking orders as the latest info is Jan 2013...maybe.

I did not bother with Isuzu again or Toyota, but the stands were very busy.

The show itself is actually very impressive, well organized and lots of cars to look at, which can be bad. So many were calling my name, but I have enough cars...

...however I did order a Ducati...and even that is 3 months wait...

Same for me. I was updated today by the dealer it will be another month, so 3 in total.

Don't think it matters what truck you order, it's an assembly line. The problem is the colour. They spray in batches.

Not really.

I said I would take any color...no difference.
