Wasabi Root Or Powder

Featured Replies

Hi all, any Bkk foodies out there know where one could buy either fresh wasabi root or power used to make w. paste?

It's getting a little expensive to buy the final product and want to try making it myself.

Hi: You can buy a 300 grammes bag of wasabi powder at Makro. I don´t remember the price but it was reasonable. The powder is mixed with water to get wasabi paste. Some people like to mix the paste with Chinese soya. Bon appetit!

Thank you

The grocery store at Siam Paragon sells tubes (premixed for 189THB) and a small container of powder for 249 Baht. I've also seen it at Villa Soi 11 but cannot remember the price. If your making it let it rest for 10-15 minutes prior to use to let the horseradish blend otherwise it tastes like glue.

I have bought Wasabi powder at Foodland, Villa, and some BigC branches. It is widely available. Not at all expensive compared to the pre-mixed tubes.

Thanks everyone for the speedy replies to my query. Today I ventured out and did a market loop of Tops-Big C-T. Lotus.

Could I be blind? Each and every store had both a 35 gram can and a 100 gram bag option.

Much appreciated!
