Using A Thai Mobile Phone In Australia

Featured Replies

I have a very basic Nokia (about 800 baht), and would like to take it with me when I move to Australia. I've been told be the guys at two different mobile phone kiosks that I only have to replace the Thai SIM card with an Australian one and then it's good to go. Is it really that simple? No unblocking necessary?

Yes

I replaced my Thai SIM with a Vodafone SIM with no problems.

Thanks everyone. Wow, why can't all things in life be this simple?

I have one of those cheap Nokias too that has a Lebara sim in it for very cheap calls to Thailand .

I also have another Nokia that i bought in MBK and both of these work well

XEN, Where do you buy a Lebara sim card from?

They are available from quite a few places like Coles express , 7/11 i think, and Crazy Johns phone shops or just go to http://www.lebara.com.au/

Cheaper and easier than those phone cards we used a few years back .

A Lebara SIM is good in Oz for international calls.

Make sure your phone is unlocked.
