Dead Refrigerator

Featured Replies

I managed to puncture the freezer compartment of my fridge and now the whole thing's stopped working. The light inside still works but I already have a lamp...

Does anyone have any experience disposing of a fridge?

Alternatively, would fixing it be a reality? I have a feeling it could be quite expensive as the hole will need patching up and it'll somehow need to be refilled with the gas that escaped, plus any internal, unseen damaged would need sorting.

Thanks for any help

Take the door off and put it on it's back, it will make a nice planter.

Yes, just a bit of soldering on the 'puncture' and it will be as good as new. smile.png

Any idea about the escaped gas?

It can be recharged for around 300 - 500 Baht. But the hole needs soldered/welded first of course.

Thanks, that's good to know.

Do you think it's best to contact the manufacturer or are there independent places to get it done?

You'll have to go to a local refrigeration mechan, one that installs air conditioning units. My wife punctured one of ours, noe its a nice staorage cabinet. Was old and not worth the effort. Good luck!
