First you have to get a 1 year license- then when you get that renewed- it will be a 5 year license...

My one-year expires in September this year, but then I've heard that you need a non-inmigrant visa type to get the purple five-year. Is that true, or? It's not a problem for me, I'm asking on the behalf of my family who always travel in tourist visa's.

Happy Songkran to you too :)

I got lifetime :)

And now you want me to ask "how", so I'll ask: How?

Go to the appropriate Land Transport Office and you can simply BUY one. TiT wai.gif

I got in before they stopped offering lifetime licenses.

I guess if you can get a certificate of residence from either immigration or your embassy you maybe able to get licenses with a tourist visa

I have to agree, if you have a 1 year then it's only a matter of sighed photocopies of your passport and the residential letter from Immigration, if you're on a Tourist visa you may have to have the home owner vouch for you at immigration?

I think one of the requirements is a non immigrant visa/extension.

I know that's the case, and enforced here in KKC.

And yes, there will always be people with stories of exceptions.
