April 29, 201213 yr Depends whether you want to go via the Andaman Club Casino ferry or arrange a long tail from the fishing port. I always recommend the club route where there is a proper car park and security. Not so easy to find the way off the main road to the ferry terminal. April 29, 201213 yr did it a few weeks ago. Very easy. If you get lost, ask anyone for the road to the andaman club, they all know it. Then its easy. Get a booking(no waiting) wait for the boat and its done. Spend an hour or 2 at the pool/casino and go back home
April 29, 201213 yr You might also consider an Air Asia flight to K.L. Quicker & far easier on the body (Well it is for my old one ) and if you book early enough it doesn't cost much more. Happy Travels
April 29, 201213 yr Andaman Club for the reasons mentioned. KL also a good choice if you book in advance, although you may want the adventure of the drive.

Thinking I will drive up and do the andaman crossing as 1 they do all for you and 2 they have a secure car park ... And other tips?? Will stop off at the national park a night or two on the way back to break it up a bit

And yes to your question above, just need your passport, but check they give you a 60 stamp when you get back into Thailand.

April 30, 201213 yr A friend did the Andaman club ferry last week and was able to get off and get back on immediately. Haven't been able to do that before. Usually need to wait an hour or so. Fingers crossed on my next visa run.

You can 'buy' the $10 from the same staff, as well as get a copy of your passport page. I typically pay between 50 and 150 baht for the longtail crossing Simon

The Andaman ferry is a first class experience, comfortable seats, air con, professional service. And it's not very expensive.....

May 3, 201213 yr Andaman club got anything going on... There is a casino there right?! Not really much going on at the Andaman Club. You are stuck on the hotel grounds (it's a very small island, so no stroll into local village. You only have access to the slot machines, the card table and wheels are in a private VIP section. I always just stayed the night in Ranong where at least you can walk about and sample life in a vibrant market town. I like the Garden Hotel on the main bypass road, some like the Princess but it's in a deary part of town. Some really cheap Thai style places on the main drag past the fresh market. Best of luck.
