Chalerm: Those MPs left out of the Cabinet to see Thaksin

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung on Friday criticised Pheu Thai MPs planning to meet former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in China as those left out of the Cabinet.

"In my personal opinion, those having to beg for the job will not get to join the Cabinet," he said.

Chalerm was speaking about MPs travelling to Kunming to play golf with Thaksin.

He said many misunderstood Thaksin's role in the Cabinet reshuffle when it actually was Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra who had the final say on the matter.

"PM Yingluck has made it clear she would not shuffle the Cabinet at this juncture," he said.

He also said he did not anticipated the Pheu Thai rift due to the Cabinet line-up despite differing opinions among MPs.

Thai Rak Thai executive Pinij Chantarasurin said he and a number of 111 barred executives planned to meet Thaksin in a round of golf.

Pinij said barred executive Wichit Plangsrisakul and red-shirt leader Suporn Attawong would join the golf game.

Following the meeting with Thaksin, the 111 would team up with former prime minister Somchai Wongsawat and his wife Yaowapha to sway votes for Pheu Thai candidate Kasem Nimmolrat for the Chiang Mai by-election, he said.

Interesting that so many non thais have such a deep understanding of the culture and the political process in thailand but they cannot even put a sentence together in thai.

Whatever we think of it the majority of voters do support yingluk in their millions and they have a vote, farangs do not. When the voters go to polls next time then they can determine the new government, unless someone decides a different process for declaring the government again. 20 year history does say the elected government is unlikely to be the democrats. Maybe the democrats will get their act together by next time.

What about the majority that don't support Yingluck? Do they just get ignored?

Judging by the broken election promises I would have said it isn't just those who don't support Yingluck who get ignored.

What silly MPs they are!

Of course Ms Yingluck will be the one to say who gets to sit at the cabinet trough...... just as soon as BB has told her.

Maybe she has no say for the cabinet, but for the room in the 4 season hotel.

And why had Thaksin to pay billions of Baht in vote buying if the majority of voters would support him?

Maybe Yingluck doesn't know she will be shuffling the cabinet? I mean puppet master has not told her what is happening? Oh the Thai pee/nong thing. Younger sibling has to do what older sibling says... Nong, shuffle the cabinet. Ok, pee; tell me what to do.

The title of this OP "Chalerm: Those MPs left out of the Cabinet to see Thaksin" is a bit unfair toward k. Chalerm.

The OP itself says he "criticised Pheu Thai MPs planning to meet former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in China as those left out of the Cabinet"

I would beg to differ with you she did not get a majority of the votes. And a lot of the votes she got were given with the understanding that it would be big brother running the show.

A formula for disaster. And to date munch proof of that.

What has understanding of culture got to do with it.

When I see 52% of the population voted against the other 48% of the population it is political knowledge not cultural understanding.

Or were you referring to the cultural attitude of who cares as long as they pay the best.whistling.gif

You are absolutely right.

Do you think he is doing that because they might get him a (shall we say) different job?

Golfing with Thaksin won't get MPs into Cabinet: Chalerm

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung yesterday took a swipe at Pheu Thai MPs planning to meet former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in China, saying they were upset at having been left out of the Cabinet.

"In my personal opinion, those having to beg for the job will not get to join the Cabinet," he said.

Chalerm was referring to a group of MPs planning to travel to Kunming to play golf with Thaksin.

He said many misunderstood Thaksin's role in Cabinet reshuffles, as Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had the final say in the matter.

"PM Yingluck has made it clear she will not shuffle the Cabinet at this juncture," he said.

He said, however, that he did not anticipate a rift within Pheu Thai over the Cabinet line-up despite differing opinions among MPs.

Meanwhile, former Thai Rak Thai (TRT) executive Pinij Chantarasurin said he and a number of the now-defunct party's 111 barred former executives planned to meet Thaksin for a round of golf.

Pinij said barred TRT former executive Wichit Plangsrisakul and red-shirt leader Suporn Attawong would join the golf game.

Following the meeting with Thaksin, the 111 would team up with former prime minister Somchai Wongsawat and his wife Yaowapha to support Pheu Thai candidate Kasem Nimmolrat's campaign for the upcoming Chiang Mai by-election, he said.

Sometimes I wonder if there is a Thai word for irony.......Yingluck keeps insisting she is deciding appointments, and yet wannabe MPs keep flying over to see Thaksin. Hmmmm.... Reminds me of the old adage that if you want to know the truth , pay no attention whatsoever to what a person says, and pay very close attention to what they do.

Thaksin's role in this government is rapidly moving into the theater of the absurd. Imagine a corral area, with a feeding trough in the middle of it. A bunch of pigs are lined up at the feeding trough happily eating. But outside the corral are more hungry pigs lined up wanting to get inside to the feeding trough. Thaksin's role seems to be one of gatekeeper at the corral gate, as he is deciding which of the pigs outside get to go in and start feeding.....

I actually love living here in Thailand, it is the government I detest. They are a true millstone around the necks of wonderful Thai people...

Never a truer word written!!,

""PM Yingluck has made it clear she will not shuffle the Cabinet at this juncture," he said."

Please take this in the correct context. It is true as of now because she has not been informed.

A new PTP supporter or a retread who has been banned are just run out of steam under the old moniker. Being able to write in Thai has nothing to do with ones opinion. You may want to do a bit of research about that majority. Edited by moe666
