Cricket is an absurd game, 11 vs 2! Let both sides take the field and see how the fielding side cope with being tackled and additionally introduce the offside rule.

Cheerleaders would be good though.

And sometimes those 2 can hold their own against the 11 for several hours...

I assume you were one of the tennis squad who always dreamed of holding a proper bat, but never had the chance; I am sorry for that

I hope that you will discover the joys of cricket in your next life (assuming buddhism is correct)

'cough' as I remember 'Cricket' is the product name of a disposable cigarette lighter...

and, yes there is Jiminy Cricket; an animated Walt Disney character who had a homosexual relationship with the puppet Pinocchio which was sublimated by the censors in the 1950s...

English perversion in SE Asia should be discouraged...

It seems you have totally misunderstood

Cricket is a wonderful sport that can change lives, and even societies; Australia (as I already mentioned) being a shining example of this

I can only express my sorrow for your situation and condemn those that have led you down this path

sick.gif stupid boring game its a long version of baseball and that boring to,like all sport, this summer we have have a load of crap live from london , this would drive you to drink sick.gifmfr_closed1.gif

I think you should watch some cricket; an appreciation of the game might engender a more positive outlook on life

All cricket followers know that it only takes one good partnership, or a couple of quick wickets, to change the game

As a reminder, we have identified and discussed many issues in Thailand that could be remedied by cricket

Can anyone think of an issue in Thailand that cannot be fixed by cricket?

Thai fashion standards could also be improved if the young and trendy started to wear cricket jumpers in the bars and restaurants

I'm not so sure ... post-104736-0-96971800-1336860063_thumb.

Well Guys.......When does this game start?

Have organised the cheer squad with uniforms but can't post pictures

as it is against sponsers rules.

An for all the aussie fans......well I have taught the girls our cheer theme

"Come on aussie come on,come on" as well as supplied a few kangaroos

and koalas

So, as I say, the girls are ready and waiting to go.

Just need the thumbs up.clap2.gif

Also, Plopmeister has been a great help.

Thank for that David48. wink.png

kevjohn, your enthusiasm inspires me ... but this is the OP's thread ... so I defer to him and looking at the current time in Thailand, it's not past first coffee there.

This time zone difference is realy a challenge.sad.png

Come to think of it ( I do a lot of thinking ) if I was to be asked to bowl,

then that would be OK, as the batesmen would be safe due to the fact

that they would not be at the crease yet.

So if the team requires another bowler, then I could be available.thumbsup.gif

Thailand already has a cricket league with 3 divisions, with cricket sixes annually in Bangkok (2), Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, Pattaya and Phuket. There is also a junior cricket league with teams from Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Petchabun and Khon Kaen. The best cricketer from Thailand used to play for Australia under 19s. If anyone wants to play cricket they can join the Siam CC http://siamcc.org/

That is very interesting

I think it should be in the school curriculum, and every village should have their own team(s)

It is in the Prem school curriculum in Chiang Mai

If so, do you think that learning cricket is enlightening Thais in the follies of their ways.smile.png

Unfortunately most of the kids in the Thai national teams are local injuns

"Some obvious examples of improvements that could be engendered by a government, or possible NGO, led programme to spread cricket around the kingdom, are as follows:

Increased levels of strategic thinking

Physical and mental endurance and stamina, including better concentration

Improved English language skills

Willingness to work hard, over an extended period of time, to achieve objectives

Flexibility to accept losses or set-backs with dignity

Greater awareness of health and safety issues"

To all the above - why?

Of course, I forgot we discussed that already... as a reminder here is my response from post #61... The "up to you" attitude would be solved by the instant decision making (and clear communication of your view) required to survive when running between the wicket.

What do you mean?

I think we have discussed practical examples of each of those general improvement described above

Are you suggesting cricket does not promote these attributes?

Again, I would suggest that you look towards Australia as a shining example of what can be achieved through cricket

As I said In a previous post......... cricket was not a game that I was a fan of, but you only have to look at my posts

to see how this wonderfull game, has changed my view.clap2.gif

I love this job as coach of our cheer squad.

Better than fielding, batting and that strenuous bowling but...hay....I will do what

ever my good captain and vice captain ask.thumbsup.gif

So taking that into account..........cricket can certainly change a persons way of thinking.wink.pngthumbsup.gifclap2.gif

Sorry to hear that

On the positive side now is the perfect time to practice your batting swing; practicing batting one-handed is the key to avoiding using too much bottom hand (and risk hitting the ball in the air) but when your right hand is not in a sling, it is always difficult to resist using both hands

Does that mean to say that, if I AM asked to bat, I should have my right arm in a sling?ermm.gif

Yes as this will prevent any temptation to slog out and allow you to concentrate on your job of defending the final ball (or two balls) of the over so that your senior batting partner can keep strike

I was thinking of using my sling first to make the girls feel safe and then to hide my drugged hankie....I know its more Jeff Bridges than Trent Bridges but that is the only cricketing link I can think of...

That applies to so much more than batting...
