fabianfred Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I am getting problems with my VLC player and wonder if there are any better ones out there?
dave_boo Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I recommend mplayer. It offers vdpau acceleration which is really cool. Have you tried updating your codecs if overall you like vlc?
FOODLOVER Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I thought VLC was the best and played everything. Wrong?
monty Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Always use KMplayer. Played everything I ever threw at it... Posted with Thaivisa App http://apps.thaivisa.com
Tywais Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Not sure what problems you are having with VLC - using latest version? VLC is pretty much all I use. However, some alternatives that I've used that are pretty good: GOM Media Player Daum Potplayer (considered an improved version of KM Player - same author) Media Player Classic
JSixpack Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 +1 for Daum Potplayer (considered an improved version of KM Player - same author) - I use this most of the time, light, fast, plays everything. I'll put in a word for the 800-pound gorilla in the room we love to ignore: Winamp, assuming you've installed a major codec pack. It's nice to have the library facility. Looks good, plays good, sounds good, does a lot including internet radio stations. Ton of plugins available. Of course, YMMV. Close runner up (IMO): MediaMonkey.
cdnvic Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Use Winamp a lot but the players are free so I just keep Winamp, VLC, WMP, and RP installed and use whichever one suits the purpose. If I had to buy them I'd worry about narrowing it down to one, but I don't.
DP25 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 GOM Player is quite good although I prefer VLC Player. Give it a try if you're having problems with VLC http://www.gomlab.com/eng/
craigt3365 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I was having problems with VLC also. I've tried Applian Media player and it's OK. I don't like the controls, but it doesn't stutter like VLC was doing. I'll try updating my codecs to see if that helps....
Darrel Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Anyone having trouble with VLC should try uninstalling it (select the option that includes deleting the preferences) and then installing the most recent version. VLC uses its own codecs for nearly everything.
