seems to me that if some thing did all that and was popular here in Thailand you wouldn't need to ask.

Try the Chinese pharmacy in the Wharout (not sure of the spelling) market it is on the north side of the road that runs from the moat (Mikes burgers on the corner) up to the river. At a guess I would say it is about 200 feet west of the main intersection with a 7 11 in it,

Under the name 4 Mine K this is avaliable by mail order from a company in Nonthaburi . If you Google "4 mine K " you can obtain their web address and telephone numbers

Thanks, was thinking that market would have it actually ......will compare prices to 4 mine k which looks like an export price....way too high per month.

HelloDolly, I just could not find the place you talked about.I walktowards the 7-11 on the corner....busy market street to right and quieter riverside street going to the big bridge.

Yep, though I don't want a couple of beers before jumping into exercise...it is an all-rounder herb which hits several goals at once....there must be a place in this city that sells it...I think it is much more popular in Malaysia maybe.

I'm a bit of a gym rat and was recommended by a fellow member something called "Nam Bao" - basically a Chinese testosterone booster so good for what you specified. I tried it but with no discernable affect in the gym. Directions would be: Kotchisarn road - take a left at Mikes Burgers, go straight until you are under the "Chinese Arch" about 500m down, park up, walk about 100m and the chinese pharmacy is on the left. Great for some stuff but if you want gym performance then I recommend Jack3D/creatine and if you want to be a stamina shagger then cialis is the go ;) Happy times......

Cheers,

Pikey.

When you walk out of the 7 11 head towards the moat it is only about 200 feet on your right. You will pass a small pharmacy on your way. Maybe at a guess 500 feet from the river.

Found the Chinese pharmacy and they did not have what I asked for (Tongkat Ali) ...they suggested the herbalist right next door...I asked for Tongkat ali but they did not know it ...after finding this thread below it appears it is called TUNG SAW locally.....went back and no joy....maybe my tone was off as that spelling is all I had to go on.

Will keep digging.http://www.thaivisa....al-performance/

i know they mention a brand name in that thread but these export brands tend to be pumped up in price which is why I'm trying to source the powder direct from a herbalist.

Tongkat Ali is fairly common in the jungles of malaya, borneo and sumatra

Does it not grow wild in Thailand?

In deed it grows wild in Thailand but not easy at all to find. Since years we have our "special place" hidden in deep forest at the foot of Doi Inthanon (of course not national park area) where we take some of our staff about once a year to dig roots out. Very hard work, needs three men digging one day to harvest about half a cubicmeter! The plants must be really old otherwise the roots will not content much of the demanded ingredients.

Drying the roots thoroughly is a must, otherwise they will mildew.

We don't make extract; we chip it (using a self developed hand craft tool), then after drying them again we let the chips run through the Moulinex mill, then my wife uses the powder to prepare tea. The taste is abhorrently bitter but it helps her "to keep her healthy" ...

We don't sell it.

Then, please do you know what I would ask for at hebarlists ? What is the exact Thai pronunciation and any variations names Tongkat is know for ?

As a last resort, is this brand Ainterol

a local Thai brand and easy to source ?

It's commonly known as ra:k/\ ton/\ pla:-- lai\/ phü:ak\ (รากต้นปลาไหลเผือก). According to my wife it should also be known by skilled Thai pharmacists as Tongat Ali (ตงกัทอาลี).

BTW - My wife never heard the expression "Tung saw" for it. And she wondered about the mentioned effects for the Ainterol product. She learned from her grandmother that its good in healing gastric and intestinal ulcer as well as preventing cancer cells. Her comment: "Sex sells" ...

Yeah baby ! Mission accomplished.

The same herbalist in Chinatown as recommended by hellodolly had the stuff after I said the name rebo sugggested.

75 baht for 500 grams and he added an extra 100 grams for good measure.

1 teaspoon a.m. and one p.m. V.I.L.E. taste, but for a multi-hit herb that does fat burning/testosterone boosting/aphrodisiac/mind focus at 75 baht I'll give it a shot !

Here is the place, just on Chang moi road left side just before the 7-11 near the river...

Herb is ra:k/\ ton/\ pla:-- lai\/ phü:ak\ (รากต้นปลาไหลเผือก)

I just made a quick calculation: To produce about 5 kg of pure Tongkon Ali root powder we have expenses of about 1'500 THB (wife's at least 1 full day supervising time not taken into account) = 300 THB/kg. No profit of course. With 125 THB/kg (profit included) you got an incredibly good price! Or ...

But however --- Give it a try (and maybe you google for serious non-profit- oriented information on how much you should take to feel any aphrodisiac effect ... cheesy.gif )!

The selling of fake tongkat ali abounds in Malaysia and over the Internet, according to Wikipedia. However, if the stuff is incredibly, unbelievably bitter, chances are that at least some of the powder you are eating is from the right herb.

It is incredibly bitter....needs to be put in a pill and swallowed or hid in a milkshake....real deal but I bought Red Kwao Krua (similar price) 2 days later and I thinkthe red Krao is undoubtedly an "intensifier" and "pick me up" to say the least. I think the Tongkat peps you up generally ? I should have isolated to find out which one is doing it but at that price it's t.o.p.s.

Maybe have to stop both and start again....but in this case... where's there's smoke, there's a fire.

Stack it with Scandinavian bee pollen (google it) and you got a winner 4sure....of course consult a doc if you are on any medication before mixing any of this stuff.

That price you bought the powder at is so low there surely must be a mistake somewhere! I bought 5 kilos of the proper authenticated root extract @ 7,000 baht per kilo! I checked out the normal price and this was a genuine good wholesale price comparable with normal prices. I can only imagine either the shop owner you bought it from has miscalculated the value of the powder or it is not proper extract root powder. Check out this website :

Fraud involving the purchase of bulk tongkat ali extract http://cockatoo.com/fraud97236.htm

I bought it in bulk and I did a thorough check it is the genuine article and recommended! Beware fake products.Fake powder will not completely dissolve in water but good extract powder will be dissolved completely. There is no Maltodextrin added in the production. It was made only from root that is over 10 years old.
