I did, thnx a lot.

its seems like more a 6-7 hours drive.

We've driven it quite a few times. It's about 5 hours. Google might tell you to go through Kalasin. Don't. Go Ubon, Yasothon, Roi Et, Mahasarakham, Khon Kaen. Use the ring roads around all the cities in between or you risk an additional 30 minutes on your trip.

I have driven it heaps of times and agree with Ubonthai except;

1/ head towards Kalasin from RoiEt but turn west towards Khon Kaen at Ban Bo. This saves Maha Sarakham and the cluster around the Singha brewery south of Khon Kaen, and that stretch of road is straight, safe and in good condition .. very few intersections/traffic lights

2/ If it is not peak time then go straight through Yasothon; I have found the ring road there too long and slow, the town itself is pretty "fluid".

Total journey 4-5 hours. I did Udon to Ubon yesterday, ring road to ring road in four and a quarter hours, not driving dangerously but managed to do 120 on most of the long stretches.

PS: Bit of a mess and contraflow north of KeungNai at the moment, but the rest of the trip is delay-free. (More than I can say about the UK roads!!!)

Have a great trip.
