Importing Prescription Drugs For Personal Use

Featured Replies

I accidentally posted this in Stop Smoking and would have deleted or moved it, but I have yet to see how to move or delete a post on this web site. Anyway, here is my question.

I can get prescription drugs under my insurance mailed to me from the US much cheaper than I can get them here in Thailand. Plus there are some prescription drugs that are not available here.

I read one post from March 2012 that said they had been having prescription drugs mailed to them from the US for 6 years with no problem. Then FDA told him them they could no longer do unless he had an import license.

The post had only one person to respond. Can I assume it is true that you cannot import prescription drugs into Thailand for personal use or is this persons experience not the norm?

Thanks.

I am not aware of any legal barrier to importing meds for personal use but assume that the 30 day supply (which is what is allowed to be brought in with you) applies, and also of course that the medication would need to be legal for use in Thailand.

Import licenses are not AFAIK required for a small amount for personal use. (and impossible to get anyhow).
