Laser Dentistry In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any experience of using a laser dentist in Bangkok, for the removal of decay as opposed to whitening, I would like to know where and possible price implications.? Thanks!

I had a laser treatment for tooth whitening but never had one for decay. Well, laser drilling..sounds interesting and also scary. Miust go way faster than normalthough.

It does exist I read about it about 16 years ago, I was told by a dental student that there was one clinic here in Bangkok but forgot where it was. Basically if you have laser treatment it is better for your tooth as only the decay is destroyed and in some cases you don't need an anaesthetic. You can read about if from the following link, had I not read that article in the Times all those years ago I would be ignorant of it. In the end treatment by laser mean longer lasting teeth, as you don't have to destroy the good part of the tooth to get at the bad part, also the laser is more effective at killing bacteria:

Actually from a quick read of that page it would seem only currently used for soft tissue (gum) type applications where the blood stopping ability is taken advantage of. A future (maybe) of hard tissue fillings being possible is mentioned but only mention was 6% have for soft tissue - nothing for fillings that I could find. As ultrasonic drills are about as fast as most dentists would want to use do not believe speed would be a factor. Dental treatment here is very good in my experience (starting in 1972) so if fear of pain is a factor I would not avoid as larger offices have specialists for each procedure and they are good.
